Oh the places you will go …

There’s this old hymn about how wonderful and marvelous it is to lean on the Everlasting Arms…and it causes me to remember and reflect on what living by faith truly means. Before three years ago when Karina & I moved here full time as missionaries we had little to no idea what we were doing. By leaning on faith literally one day at a time, we watched in wonder at how God orchestrated not only the flourishing of the Nest community but more importantly the transformation of our inner beings. God knows us infinitely more than we know ourselves, so why we wouldn’t we submit to his good plans for us.

The last time I wrote to you we were midway through our Canadian Nest deputation tour. I was able to meet up and reconnect with long lost friends and family, preached a word at my old home church, and we were able to present the Nest mission to almost two dozen different groups. Oh and we ate so many hotdogs and hamburgers at these social circles, that we actually craved coming back to the country of rice & beans!

For those of you we met in Canada, I’m pleased to say we’ve partnered with a Canadian ministry that will serve as a conduit to your donations, allowing you to receive charitable tax receipts from Canada. Please check out our “ get involved“ donation page on our website for more info. We loved everyone’s pledges of support, now it’s up to you to take that last step of faith and partner with what God is actively doing here at the Nest.

To make matters even more joyful and praise worthy, on our last day of deputation we received word that an anonymous donor gifted the Nest with the funds to buy a newer vehicle, which we desperately needed, as our current one is breaking down on a depressingly regular basis. So thank you Jesus!

Now that we are back working at the Nest, we had to hit the ground running. We’ve officially taken in our first teenage girl aged 14 as a resident of the Nest. Even though we don’t have a license until the end of the year to be a registered shelter, with the approval of the girls mother we are housing and counseling this young girl who has been groomed and repeatedly raped by a predator in her community. As we venture into this core issue of our ministry, we are shocked at the deep dysfunction that clouds this culture and the complexity and intertwining of interpersonal relationships within the BriBri tribe.

We are confident that Jesus can and will bring spiritual clarity into the clouded landscape of these dear souls. But we need your prayers every day. Beyond that we need workers to come down here and get involved. So yes we are recruiting for women ages 19-and up who want to minister as teachers, counselors, and house parents. We are assured by the state of affairs here that many many more hurting and needy girls will be arriving at our community looking for the love and safety that God's Nest is here to provide. So pray for these workers, spread the word and together let’s see the amazing places that together we will go…

With love and gratitude
